Parl Secy & DC Distribute Relief To Fire Victims
YINGKIONG, Feb 6: Parliamentary Secretary (Education, Law & Justice) JK Panggeng distributed immediate relief to the seven family victims of the major mishap which occurred on February 5 at around 12:30 am at Geku Peram.
Panggeng distributed Rs. 10,000 each to all the affected families and other relief materials today.
Deputy Commissioner Liyon Borang distributed Rs. 3000 to each victim under State Disaster Relief fund as immediate relief and directed EAC, Geku to constitute a committee for proper assessment of properties lost/damaged in the fire and submit the report to the district authority for relief payment at earliest.
The RWD, Yingkiong division and the SP office, Yingkiong also contributed relief materials to the victims on the same day. DIPRO
Livestock vaccination camp
ITANAGAR, Feb 6: A mass vaccination cum treatment for foot and mouth disease (FMD) in domestic animals was conducted by Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officers, Tezu at Bhekhuliang village on February 4.
About 40 Mithun, 80 cattle, pigs and goat were treated and 116 healthy animals vaccinated during the camp conducted under the supervision of DVO, DIO (Eastern Zone) and VOs. Blood samples of both affected and unaffected animals were also collected for further examination.
A small informal meeting was also conducted where Dr. Hano Tama, DVO of Lohit told the villagers about importance of livestock, their disease, prevention and treatment. He has also given stress on livestock insurance and their benefits.
GWS appeals for peace and harmony
ITANAGAR, Feb 6: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has appealed to all the Galos to maintain peace and harmony in connection with Aalo incident as the Peace Committee constituted in connection with the case is also working on the issue.
Attack condemned
ITANAGAR, Feb0 6: Students’ Union of Dera Natung Govt College today vehemently condemned the reported attack on its General Secretary, Gora Rikam, by four unknown persons yesterday at its Union office without any reason.
Infuriated over the incident, Union strongly appealed the district administration and capital police to nab the culprits involved in the heinous crime within 48 hours, failing which it threatened to declare 48 hours Capital Complex, Itanagar bandh from February 8 next.
Meanwhile, All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union (AKKDSU) has condemned the attack on students’ union leader and strongly appealed the concerned authority to immediately nab the culprits and book under appropriate section of the law.
Fire damages CFC of NSF
ITANAGAR, Feb 06: The Common Facility Centre (CFC), Ziro, under Development Commissioner, Handicraft, Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India which is being run by the Nani Sala Foundation has been partially damaged while three classrooms, the residence of the chowkidar and the office building of the Highland School, which is also a part of it, have been completely burnt down in a fire incident on February 5 at around 3.30 pm.
Nani Kojin, Chairman of Nani Sala Foundation informed that all the textbooks and school uniforms which were in the school office have been completely burnt and machinery worth lakhs of rupees have been damaged.
It may be mentioned that this Centre is running a multiple programme for the common people that include Family Counseling Centre under Social Welfare Board, Health Service Centre under Tribal Affairs a Creche Programme and the Highland School, according to a release from Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner’s office.
ESDP on Fashion Designing begins at Tezu
ITANAGAR, Feb 06: National Youth Project (NYP) launched its second skill development programme on Fashion Designing sponsored by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt of India at Tezu under Lohit district on February two.
Altogether 25 poor unemployed youths from the locality have enrolled their names for the training.
The purpose of the programme is to create self employment opportunity to the local youths.
APCSOA condemns attack on EAC
PASIGHAT, Feb 06: The East Siang wing Acting President of APCSOA (Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers’ Association) T Pada SDO (Jud) vehemently condemned the attack on Starlie Jamoh EAC by one Indu Yommin and sought immediate government’s attention.
An FIR has been lodged by the victim at the Pasighat Police Station and Yommin has been arrested by police. Pada along with APCS officers in a written statement urged the district administration and police authority to award exemplary punishment to Yommin for his dastardly act.
“Such incidents are highly demoralizing for the officers in discharging dedicated services to the society”.
However, Pada appealed to its members to continue discharging their duties without fear or favour and to work with honesty, dedication and commitment so that the confidence and faith of the general public on Administration is maintained. DIPRO

‘Prevention is the only vaccine against HIV’
ITANAGAR, Feb 6: The third edition of Multi Media Campaign on HIV/AIDS which has been rechristened as “Live Another Day, Journey Against AIDS” was kicked off today from Taya Simla, near Raga in Lower Subansiri district.
The Campaign was kicked off from Boori Boot Yullu festival ground in Taya Simla beautifully perked along the side of Mighty Kamla River amidst huge gathering of local people who gathered in the ground for the celebration of Boori Boot Festival today.
Attending the programme Nido Pavitra, Parliamentary Secretary (H&FW) said that the prevention is the only vaccine against HIV. While stressing on the use of condoms he said HIV can be prevented by proper use of condoms.
Highlighting the four routes of HIV transmission he urged the people to join hands for the effective HIV/AIDS prevention in the state. He also cautioned the people to be alert and remain safe from the disease and urged the people not to discriminate people living with HIV.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ralom Borang said “you never know when HIV sneaks into one’s live. There is no cure but can be prevented. While emphasising that people should talk openly on HIV he also asked them not to hesitate in using condom to prevent HIV. Tongam Rina
BOMDILA, Feb 6: Wild fires have ravaged several areas in West Kameng district resulting in severe smog. Even areas near the district headquarters Bomdila has been affected with fire continuously burning in nearby mountains and forests.
Devastating fire could be seen at several areas near Dirang, Bomdila, Rupa, Chillipam, Gacham, Jigaon, Shergaon and Dahung.
In several places electric and phone lines have been affected by the ravaging fire. The most dangerous, however, are the stones rolling down from the naked hills and mountain straight to the roads.
Forest Fire is a perennial hazard in the district, mostly caused by carelessness of the inhabitants and made worse by dry forests in harsh winters. Wildlife Hunting, which is one of the favourite sports in the district have often been blamed for outbreak of fire as hunters are not cautious enough to douse the fire after they set it on.

APSCW & APWWS laud Govt decision
ITANAGAR, Feb 6: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) and Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) have appreciated the State Govt. under the leadership of Chief Minister Nabun Tuki and his Cabinet Ministers for their commitment and concern over safety and security of women and girl child.
While lauding the state Govt.’s decision to establish all women police station in the state capital, create separate cells to address crime against women in all the district headquarters along with Capital City Itanagar and recruit more lady police personnel, both APSCW and APWWS in separate releases hoped that such steps taken by the state govt. will boost the morale and spirit of womenfolk in the state.
“This is the need of the hour as the victim and aggrieved women will be more freer to express their problems to the women police than their male counter part, APSCW Chairperson Gumri Ringu said. In the meantime, APSCW strongly condemned the reported sexual harassment of a minor girl child at Pasighat and sought status report from the District administration. If the reported case is found to be true, the culprit(s) involved in the case should be arrested and booked under relevant section of IPC, the APSCW demanded.
Efforts on to solve potable water crisis: Siram
PASIGHAT, Feb 6: The residents of Pasighat and adjoining areas are facing acute shortage of drinking water.
Inspecting the water sources and reservoirs here today, local MLA and Education Minister Bosiram Siram opined that shortage of drinking water is a common phenomenon during winter but emphasis has been given to solve the shortage of potable water in the township.
Drastic measures are being taken to address the crisis and a visible change would be brought within the next few months, Siram assured. Accompanied by officers, PHED engineers and local engineers during a field visit, the minister visited the water reservoirs/pumps of Forest colony, DST and Power colony, DEMHSS, Upper and Lower Baskota, Saw mill area and Jarkong village and took stoke of the present situation. Siram while admitting that sufficient supply of drinking water to every nook and corners in the densely populated town like Pasighat is in a very difficult stage, assured that efforts would be made on priority basis for immediate improvement of drinking water supply by the PHED with good planning and strategies.

Administration seeks traders’ cooperation
ITANAGAR, Feb 6: The Capital district administration today urged the business community and members of Itanagar Market Welfare Committee to cooperate with the administration in its drive against illegal selling of tobacco products, plastic bags and various other welfare measures being taken up by the administration.
Highlighting various issues including extortion threat faced by the traders in a meeting held with business community at Akash Deep Complex today, the administration further requested the business community to maintain cleanliness in the market area and not to dump garbage on roads. They were also requested to cooperate with the District Administration as done in the past to neutralize the menace of Bandh calls given by various frivolous organizations.
Informing about the road widening project in the Capital Complex, the business community was also requested not to encroach upon the RoW of NH52A/ sector roads and not to dump construction material/ debris on the roads.
The administration also carried out a drive for removal of construction material/ debris stocked on either side of sector roads/ NH52A in Itanagar and Naharlagun Townships. A total of ten Magistrates along with Police Personnel conducted the drive. The District Administration also appealed the residents not to stock building materials and debris on road side, according to an official release.

Taking into account the magnitude of devastation, the speed at which it spreads to nearby areas, its potential to change the direction and ability to jump roads and rivers forest fires are completely different from other ordinary fire accident.
Last week a fire broke out at Gano area at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district in which Bamboos grooves and other valuable trees were burnt down. Forest fires also known as Bush fire generally occur during winter due to hot and dry climate. It completely destroys the eco system posing great threat to human as well as wildlife and infrastructure. The effects of forest fire are more destructive than the beneficial effects.
It may not be correct but in my opinion, forest fires are mainly caused by human hands. Major cause of forest fires in Ziro and other parts of the state are human carelessness like throwing burning cigarettes carelessly.

YINGKIONG, Feb 06: An official team led by Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Liyon Borang visited remote villages bordering China, namely Gelling, Norbuling and Bising from February one to five. The team reached upto 'Kepangla Pass and Po:lo Yorbe from where they had an overview of Sirang village of China situated nearest to the territory of India. The DC and his team of officers visited Bising and Sibi Dinggo (Waterfall) the last Indian village located nearest to Chinese territory.
The main objective of the visit was to inspect the schemes undertaken under BADP at the spot and the new projects proposed to be taken up and see that the problems and grievances of the border people are addressed

Shoulder responsibility topreserve culture: Sonam
ITANAGAR, Feb 06: Attending the Donggin festival of Bori community of Adi at Riyeng village under Kaying circle in West Siang district recently, Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Chairman Jalley Sonam urged the community particularly youths to shoulder the responsibility of preserving the culture.
Highlighting unemployment problems in the state Sonam added unemployment youths can get benefit from the state government public private partnership mode initiated by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki. He also said current chief minister is paying keen attention towards the horticulture and agriculture to sustain the rural economic.

ITANAGAR, Feb 06: Member of Parliament Takam Sanjoy appealed to the Kamla Hydro Electric Power Project affected people to wholeheartedly cooperate in the implementation of the project as it would immensely benefit the people of the area as well as the State.
Addressing a massive public meeting at Kamporijo CO HQ on February 4 in connection with implementation of the Kamla Hydro Project being executed by Jindal Company, Sanjoy hoped that Jindal Company will honour all the terms and conditions incorporated in the MOA, especially with regard to corporate social responsibility, job reservation, relief and rehabilitation packages.
Earlier, Sanjoy inaugurated the Circle Office headquarters of Kamporijo.
Jayant Kawale, MD, Jindal Company said that the survey and investigation part is completed now and that the project is expected to be completed in eight years from now.
The Kamla Hydro Electric Project implementing Committee (KHEPLIC) submitted a memorandum welcoming the Project with certain demands.

Efforts to promote agroforestry
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) called on countries to boost efforts to promote agroforestry, a practice involving the combination of trees with crop or livestock production, stressing it can help millions of people escape poverty and prevent environmental degradation, making it crucial to ensure food security in the future.
Agroforestry combines agricultural and forestry technologies to create more productive and sustainable systems for land use. According to FAO, the agroforestry sector is a significant source both of local commodities such as fuelwood, timber, fruit and fodder for livestock as well as global ones such as coconut, coffee, tea, rubber and gum.
